SMS Client Install Problem

I get the message 'Setup encountered an error and could not continue' while trying to install the advnced client from SP1. I've uninstalled the client as through as I can by also deleting and prior references to the program after I ran the ccmclean and once I saw in the registry that SMS install or unistall generated a message that its needed a reboot before it could compete but all installs on subsequant reboots show me the same install error.

I didn't see any loging going on in the normal spot also ... C:\WINNT\system32\CCM\Logs

have you installed all the latest microsoft security updates on this client?

yes ... the only thing that needs to be installed is Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 which i have not tested in our environment yet.

Just tried pushing the cliet from SMS ... and what do you know ... its installing! Didn't think it would work since the local install failed to even execute.
