Good day,

Can somebody can give me an overview on how to make a program on SMS application. Thanks.

There are basically 2 strategies

1. Dial via landline (POTS) to an outfit that sends SMS messages for you.
2. Connect your computer to your mobile via a mobile phone modem

The method you choose will depend (probably) on the volume of calls and required reliability of service.

Both have been discussed on the forum, and a quick search brought up several including thread708-525894, thread222-193173 and thread222-395733

Johnwm,

I'm very thankful to you that you guide me the link on how to develop SMS application. And I'm very sorry being so redundant in my question.

In the example SMS program in the tread you've just give me. In the line "mscomm1.output "ATDT ----". As I understand that the "D" is to make "Dial". What command i'm going to use if I want to send or receive text messages?

Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Hey CGR707,

What you ahve to understand is that SMS works just like a Modem... Except there is no standard protocol.

In the past I sent short SMS messages via one of my programs. I hooked up a Nokia PremiCell to the COM port. The premicell is the SMS modem.

I then sent ATDT - establish dial tone...

Dial number etc...

But what you are going to have to do is get a protocol from your SMS provider. Are you in India By chance. I have some samples for that region.

CasperTFG,

Could you please email it to me the sample you've said, my email address is ChristopherGRodriguez@Yahoo.Com. Or could you give me a detail example, so that I can understand. Thank you very much.
