Hi all

Having a problem discovering all network pc on all the subnets I specified. It only seems to scan 4 subnets and leaves out 8 subnets. When I remote desktop to the pc's in the problem subnet I am able to connect to the sms site share and run the client installation.

Any ideas

SMS subnets are a little tricky. You need to make sure that you specify the subnet properly in SMS.

Say you have a 255.255.255.128 subnet mask in your environment. You would have two subnets.

for the 10.49.40.0 network with the subnet mask 255.255.255.128

Subnet 1: 10.49.40.0 - 10.49.40.1 --> 10.49.40.126
Subnet 2: 10.49.40.128 - 10.49.40.129 -->10.49.40.254

Therefore, you will have to define 10.49.40.0 and 10.49.40.128 in your SMS Site. The mistake many SMS admins do is just to list the 10.49.40.0 subnet. Because SMS will know to look to the clients subnet mask to determine what site it belongs to, you must list every subnet in your SMS Site Boundaries...

The subnet masks are 255.255.255.0 for all the subnets. So I have specified for eg. 10.2.200.0,10.2.201.0,10.2.210.0. I think it is the firewalls that are the problem. Somehow the firewalls are stopping sms server to identifying the subnets as true subnets. Thats why there are locks on the sunets that have been found and many subnets without lock devices next to them.
