SMS 2003 mass renaming of workstations - impact ?

Hi all,

any idea what impact to SMS may have mass renaming of all workstations ???

Collections based on name is one of simple thing, I mean
if I should expect functionality or e.g database issues ?

Any tip or advice appreciated.

shouldnt be any big deal....it will just take a while for the obsolete info to go away....plus the old name will still probably be in AD, so you'll need to remove the old name out of there also as SMS will still see it in AD.

So change the name remove it from AD then remove it from SMS. Or just wait and it should eventually do it itself depending on what your tombstone time and obsolete data is set to do. (if at all)

All said, I've never done a huge name change over the networks so I am making assumptions
