Hi,
I've got thousands of error messages in my SMS Distribution Manager regarding a DP that is no longer available.
The local IT simply shut down the server and moved it to another location where they have reinstalle the machine. I have removed all packages and deleted the server as SMS DP but still I'm getting these messages. Must I do something more to solve this issue or should I just sit an wait?

Thank you,
GSC

If you ever have a DP that was taken off line without the proper “removal” process from the SMS Console, you will get a ton of errors showing up in SMS_Distribution_Manager saying it cant remove a package or update it, and the server will try over and over, but it will never work because its either not there or SMS can no longer can access it due to rights or whatever. 1st remove the dp if it exists in the admin console (in case it is still on the network but you can no longer access it), if it no longer shows up in the site servers list as a DP continue… To stop it from trying to download, refresh, or remove a package from a DP just open up query analyzer and run these two queries.

select * from pkgservers where nalpath like '%OrpahanedDPServername%'
delete from pkgservers where nalpath like '%OrpahanedDPServername%'

select * from pkgstatus where pkgserver like '%OrpahanedDPServername%'
delete from pkgstatus where pkgserver like '%OrpahanedDPServername%'
