Does anyone know of an SMS 2003 data dictionary that defines all of the various views in SMS? It would make building queries much simpler if you knew where to look for information in the first place.

Also, I'm trying to build a report on the shares on all of our servers. Is there a view that lists the actual shares on a server? I've found Logical disks, partitions, and physical disks, but not shares. We're planning on implementaiton of DFS and want to get a handle on how many DFS links we will create.

Well, the bad news is that if one exists, someone hacked it out of the existing structure. Microsoft hasn't even posted it (so as to protect us from screwing with it I guess), but your point is a good one. Have you tried a thrird party tool that would extract the schema from the database? I know they exist for Oracle - I haven't spent that long in SQLSever to know what a good one is.

Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't looked at any tools that would give me a dump of the schema mostly because I'm lazy. I want M$ to tell me what the fields mean rather than deduce it myself. Besides, working on integrating SMS with things like Remedy and Assetcenter would go much easier if the schema was defined. That way, I could easily engage people unfamiliar with SMS to build integration pieces.
