SMS 2003 Admin Console - Snapin failed to initialize

Greetings: We have a Windows 2000 box that we has the 2003 Admin Console installed (says it installed successfully). We you go to execute the console, you get a mmc error: Snap-in failed to initialize,
Name: not available -
CLSID; [......... etc}

Has anyone run into this before?

I think I am having the same problem. Unless I put the user in the Administrators group, the snap-in fails to connect to the site database. Haven't figured out a way around this yet.

Same problem here. i figured it is a permissions issue and came here to look for the answer. Came up with this:

Just add the required username(s) to the SMS Admins global security group. Seems to work for me. Although it is VERY slooooow. Anyone else see this?

Well it isnt that it is slow to populate the systems list, its that it will not display the systems list.

Anyone figure this out?
