Hi there,
We're having a fair few problems with SMS 2.0 at the mo - this is one of our major ones.....bear in mind that we've discovered, assigned and installed clients (NT based network).
When a bog standard user logs on to the NT machine, and opens Control Panel to check for the Advertised Program Icons all they get is two unrecognisable icons which they can't do anything with. These are shown as the Microsoft unrecognisable file format. The System Management icon is also missing from Control Panel. Nor is there an Advertised Programs Icon in the system tray. However when you go into the SMS snap in/advertisement status it looks fine, package is advertised etc.
However, when you logon as an administrator or you put the user into the local users group and logon with that account then the icons are there and fine. This obviously points to a permissions thing i.e. The user has to be a
member of the local user's group or an administrator.
With a network of approx 3000 machines we don't want to go round adding every user to the local users group on the brick - it's obviously something we're doing wrong.
Any ideas? It seemed to be going OK up until running into this snag.
Thanks in advance if you have any ideas - if not cheers for taking the time to read this.
P.S. Even if you set the Package to run automatically it doesn't work. I'm pullin' me hair out here.
