I have installed Tapit Call Accounting software and all my customers have been happy with it. Go to trisys.com.

We use Infortel Select from ISI. They seem nice and it works great.

CDR is Call Detail Recording. You still need to have the SMDR to capture and send data to the recording system. We use MicroCall. SMDR sends call data to a MicroCall buffer instead of a printer. Buffers are on the LAN and dump data to the main computer on a real time basis. Dial up serves as back up. We have multiple locations across North America successfully using this system on Siemens and Norstar systems.

I went cheep with the office. we just wanted to be able to check back on caller id and verify night/weekend and a couple of other minor things.

I got a RS232 data logger (shareware) and took the output data from the smdr-6 and dropped it onto a .txt file. then made a intranet webpage that displayed the file.

If I need to actually check and make reports I can import the data into excel or access and make up a report in a few minutes.

like I said we didn't need more than really basic info and had no need for going whole hog on a full blown accounting software

I have a couple of customers that use CallWhere for call accounting. was under 700 for short version.
