SMDR sends call data to a MicroCall buffer instead of a printer. Buffers are on the LAN and dump data to the main computer on a real time basis. Dial up serves as back up. We have multiple locations across North America successfully using this system on Siemens and Norstar systems.
I went cheep with the office. we just wanted to be able to check back on caller id and verify night/weekend and a couple of other minor things.
I got a RS232 data logger (shareware) and took the output data from the smdr-6 and dropped it onto a .txt file. then made a intranet webpage that displayed the file.
If I need to actually check and make reports I can import the data into excel or access and make up a report in a few minutes.
like I said we didn't need more than really basic info and had no need for going whole hog on a full blown accounting software
I have a couple of customers that use CallWhere for call accounting. was under 700 for short version.
