I'm trying to hook up an Epson LX 300+ serial printer to a Partner R3.1 using a 355A adapter and an 8 conductor cord. I have used this printer with a different partner system in the past and it has worked fine. The printer setup is as follows:

baud rate - 1200bps
parity - none
data lenght - 8 bit

It's my understanding that "2 stop bits" is also supposed to be configured but I could not find this anywhere in my printer setttings. The tech who is programing the partner knows what he is doing and has hooked up many smdr printers with partner systems in the past. He is convinced that the problem lies with the printer settings or the printer itself. Basically what is happening is nothing. No calls are printed out. The printer is able to print out test pages fine. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Just for kicks, connect the 355 adapter to a PC and run Hyperterminal set for the same parameters and see if anything is coming out of the SMDR port.

I'm not sure now to run hyperterminal set but I'm pretty sure the smdr port isn't the problem. We have tried 3 different processors.

To clarify, I haven't used this exact printer before but another Epson LX 300+. The printer itself is new.

Turns out the cord I was using had a bad end on it. This really threw me since it was pre made. Thanks for the reply.
