Hey Everyone,
Hope everyones doing pretty darn good!!! Well the reason why I'm here is because of my Smart UPS 3000, it has a no charged battery light. When I tested the Voltage it read 13.8 V across each Battery (total of 4), then I messured across all four which was 27.6V. I know the batterries are good, but what could be other possibilities to troubleshot this UPS. Funny thing is I have three others that are the same and two out of the four failed but I managed to get the third UPS up by testing and reseating the batteries and powering off/on. That didn't work for the last UPS.....PLEASE HELP ME......

So the battery bar graph is just showing nothing? I would start by unplugging it, unplugging the batts while it is unplugged from the wall. Hold down the off button you should hear a click inside of it. At this point plug the batts back in. Hold down the test button, you'll hear one beep then a second longer beep, let go during this longer beep. Basically that's called a brain dead and cold-start. If it won't start by cold starting there is something wrong with the batts or the UPS. If the issue is still present it would point to maybe the PCB or the voltage sensor. What are the first 6 letters of your serial number?

So I performed the steps you list. Worked great. I got the UPS to the optimal state. Thank you for the much needed help. Also I'm not sure if this is the serial number but there were two numbers 1) su3000rm30 and 2) ws09005414. If there is anything I can help you with please let me know..I specialize in tape libraries and servers of all types...

Sounds good. Was just wondering the age of the UPS because the older they are the more you see stuff like the PCB fail. Looks like it was week 00 of 09. I worked at APC until about 4 months ago so if you need any more APC help just let me know.

Well actually I do have another question. What does it mean when the LED's on the batt side indicate when they are fully charged but flashing?

It means it doesn't know it's runtime. You can do one of two things. You can go into the software and perform a "Runtime Calibration" or you can put about a 30% load on it and unplug the UPS until it drops the load. When you plug it back in it should be calibrated. It will drop anything attached though so a heating element works pretty good as just linear load.

So I dropped the load to about 30% which was 2 LEDS on the left. I even bought new batteries and attempted to perform the runtime calibration. This task didn't stop the LEDS from flashing. Any other ides? I really appreciate all your help.

One other way is to reset the constants on the unit. That basically tells it the correct measurements. You would have to call APC to find out what the right ones are. I wish I still had my sheet, but they can help with that. Tell em I sent ya. :)

Physically? Just pull it out, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you have it lit, you have to get the voltage within a normal range. You can change the sensitivity on the UPS lower, and that may help if your area has normally higher than 120V.
