Good morning

We are unable to send any emails via Narrowcast, we keep getting the following error message.

Error transmitting to recipient [CC3FFC7249474ED68CB20CDFBBC18CE8] - 85018:Connection refused at host 221.xx.xxx.xxx[U607ST133::SE]:3588:[THR:0x960][02/09/2009 11:30:52.812][Level:Minor Error][Code:0x1104]

However the IP address specified is not the same as the one entered as the Smart Host.

Wondered if anyone could help, is there something in the Registry or Metadata that is pointing to this other server.

Many thanks

Hi

We had a similar issue and it turned out to me the McAfee firewall blocking NCS with the “Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail” rule in the Access Protection Properties

It is possible to Excluded Processes from this.

If this is the issue, you need to exclude the mcsmtpsv.exe process.

Sass

Thanks for the info

Sorry for my ignorance, do you mean exclude it somewhere within the Narrowcast application or exclude the process from running on the server altogether.

Thanks again
Chris

No, in our case with the same error, we needed to exclude the Narrowcast SMTP process (mcsmtpsv.exe) from being blocked by the firewall.

In our case that was the McAfee firewall.

This is specific to McAfee, but other firewalls will have similar rules.

For McAfee, it is the "Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail" rule in the Access Protection Properties.

Regards,
Sass
