IP SMALL OFFICE VERSION 3.0(69)

we are using embedded voicemail and the included automated attendant. when inbound callers choose a menu option there is silence until choosen extension is answered or goes to voicemail. is there a way to force a ring pattern (or even hold music?) to be heard while the call is being transfered?
Thanks in advance

you should be getting the music on hold by default. if it is not working i would upgrde it to 3.2.55 or 4.0 if you chose. but 3.0 was a major pain with all kinds of bugs.

thanks for the reply.
hold music is currently not playing because we have no holdmusic.wav file loaded. however, i would think that in its absence a ring should be heard instead of dead silence. i guess we have no choice but to use hold music

Hold music wav, or an external MOH source will work fine as well.

if you can upgrade to 4.0
then you will have a tone if you don't use music on hold

4.0 hmm.. i would but we have several small offices connected to a 406v1 via ip trunks and i dont think the 406v1 can take 4.0. i like to run all the same firmware to avoid issues, so this might not be an option for me.

then your only option is MOH
just buy a cf card and an adapter to pcmcia and put a tone on it
The file properties should be: PCM, 8kHz 16-bit, mono, maximum length 30 seconds.

yes it is imbedded VM, so i am assuming i can skip the cf card and pcmcia adapter bit recommended by tlpeter since its already there. however, the only information i've found on internal MOH is when uploaded with the manager via TFTP, which always has to be available upon reboot. i want to think that with the embedded voicemail there is someway to store it permanently to avoid loosing it upon reboot if the manager is closed or the TFTP server unavailable

oh, do not upgrade to the latest and great test 4.0.

CD player, CD, 1/8 inch mini plug, no reboot issues.
