Hi,

Does anybody have any experience of W2000 SBS? Any comments? Advice?

Thanks,

John..

I do, what do you want to know?
Its fine if you only want 1 DC, and need some backoffice app like exchange or sql.

Well ITR,

I am fully conversant with many types of operating systems and database 'mythologie'.

My belief is that my client got suckered into this deal.

I do not want Exchange or SQL and I really have no idea what 1 DC means. Would you like to explain?

John.

you can use sbs2000 as domain controller, internet server (ISA server) and mail server(exchange server) on single machine upto 50 clients.

The third posting sounds about right. You are a small business and therefore need small business server. Now you only need to spend 3 times as much again to find someone who can set up and run MSSQL, Exchange and ISA.
Check out the events log aswell they fill up in about an afternoon.
On the bright side you still have a working version of Server 2000 and ISA is quite useful.

ISA/Exchange/SQL Server/Active directory on the same machine is an incredible frustration. Unless your small business has a full time MSCE network admin, I don't recommend this configuration.

You can eliminate 90% of all problems SBS generates by ditching ISA server. Buy yourself a hardware firewall instead.
