Hi,
I have a T40 laptop and notice some slowness or hesitation when typing , it happens like every other minute, and just kinda hestitation for a second or two. Does anyone has any clue or any solution to it? I'm running windows XP here. thanks

The usual culprit is something running in the background hogging the cpu. Also, Word and Excel have an autosave feature, check the settings for that. I forget where it is.

I was monitoring the cpu and memory usage, and it seems everytime there's a lag, there's not much going on. also, it happens pretty much everywhere, like emails, even login typing names and password, is there anything else to check for? thanks

HEHE, maybe someone put a key logger on you? You know one of those that records every keystroke? Jealous spouse? Paranoid parents? Hacker? Joking, but look at MSCONFIG too see if anything is funny.

When did this first occur? Does it coincide with some program install or software update?

What type of mouse or keyboard are you using? Have you tried updating the drivers for them.

it's one of the ibm thinkpad laptops, i'm not doing anything weird on it, just default , antivirus, office and some windows update. basically that's it, i try to call ibm. they just keep redirecting me to different departments and at the end is not helpful at all, i'm very very disappointed at their services.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Windows.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
