Slow USB2 1

The transfer on my USB2 port appears to be quite slow. Is there a utility to check the speed of my USB2 port? And what should be the speed of USB2.

Although USB 2.0 touts a 480 mbs(60 MBs) transfer rate, the actual rates are much slower depending on the device.

There are many different utilities out there that can check the speed of your USB. You can do a search on google to find some. I will post a download link to a program (can't remember where I got it from) I have that I use to test my USB ports speeds. I will have to post it after work though. I'm behind a firewall that will not allow me to upload to my webserver.

is it xp? if so, what service pack are you running under?

I'm using XP Professional, SP1(not SP2).

sp1 does have the usb2 support...

maybe there's some clashes or something, have you tried to reinstall the usb2 drivers?

Are the devices rated for USB 2.0?

Which ones appear to be slow?

If you're using an external HD, then did you do a speed test by transferring a large file, and timing how fast it takes to transfer it?
