Slow Throughput - BUE 8.6, Win2k

All,
Recently we replaced our Compaq DLT 40/80GB backup device with a new HP VS160. Once switched the backup throughput dropped from a respectable 250MB/min to a rather poor 60MB/min.

Nothing seems to have changed and I have double checked the h/ware installation and used drivers from HP and Quantum (the latter mirroring another backup server setup). I have played around with compression etc again to no avail.

Has anyone had any similar experiences or have any new ideas? I can supply more relevant information if it helps just shout.

And shortly after posting this ...

I noticed the block size on the device was 1k (Buffer size was at 32k), this of course will leave it on its knees, I have changed the block size to 32k and the throughput is now at 330+.

I hope this helps someone else.
