Does any one have any idea what may be causing slow telnet sessions? When I'm at the box via the serial connection, the response seems to be fine but when I telnet into the server the response time lags.

This is a new server which was built from an existing image that does not exhibit any of these problems. The hardware is exactly the same.

Is the lag constant or only at the initial connection?

If the lag only occurs durring the inital connection I would suspect a resolver issue. In other words the host is unable to theresolve the name and address of machine you are coming from.

If the problem is continuous or intermitant I would suspect the network connection. Some Sun interfaces do not always play well with others. You may find that the interface on your server has a different idea of the network duplex settings than the switch or hub it is connected to. Cheers

Check following:

1. Is ur network interface card running at maximum allowed speed (adv_100fdx / adv_100hdx / adv_10fdx / adv_10hdx / link_speed / tcp parameters..)

Use netstat cmd to check out and ndd cmd to resolve..
