I have a Athlon 1.2GB running windows 2000. A 10MB WD primary and a 60MB IBM slave.
About a week ago when I turned it on, after a complete shut down the system took about ten minutes to start up. And it was running slowly once it was fully started. I did a restart and the system started up normally and ran normally.
Ever since then every time I shut down I have to wait for about ten minutes then restart to make the coputer work properly. restarts are always fine.
I have some disk errors in the system log. These have apparently been occurring frequently for months before the current problem.
"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1."
"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0."
I also have had this one about four times in the past four months.
"A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0."
Is this a hard disk prob? Are the errors related if not what the heck is causing those?
