I have a Netbackup Server (Winnt4) running Netbackup 3.4 plus associated patches in a Disaster Recovery environment.

We've recovered the catalogue (20GB but took about an hour) however when we try and recover any of the other machines its really slow (less than a Gig an hour).

Any idea's?

Server is dual processor Compaq DL380 G3 with 2GB of RAM.

Submitting the jobs puts no load on the server whatsoever. Just seems to sit there doing very little.

Couple of things to look at:

1. Are your NIC's set to 100 Full on the server and the clients?

2. Did you multiplex the backup of the clients?

3. Have you entered the recommend performance tuning entries on the server and the client as per the performance tuning document?

4. Do you have anti-virus software running on the server and the clients? If so, are you scanning both inbound and outbound traffic? If you are scanning inbound on the client stop the Anti-Virus until restore is complete. If you are running outbound on the server turn it off.

Comtec,

1. NICs are set to 100 Full on server and clients.
2. Yes some of the clients / jobs are multiplexed however we have configured the new DR server for multiplexing.
3. Recommended performance entries (BUFFER_SZ) have been completed.
4. No Anti Virus software installed.

Finally when we are recovering these servers we are assigning them new IP addresses for the DR.

DNS appears to be working fine however I vaguely remember a netbackup dns query command that helps verify name resolution. Any idea's?
