i have a win98 machine with novell client accessing a mapped drive pointing to the novell server. the novell server has a dos application...

there is a fast ethernet tcp/ip network of about 10 users

the brand new pc running windows 98 has a slow performance only accessing the dos program on the novell server

all other network activity is fast

all other clients also run win 98 with the same novell client with no problems... any ideas???

We always have to increase the file handles on our dos apps but we run NT4 so I can't tell you right off how to do it in 98.

On your new Win98 Pc is the network card set to auto or maually configured for the correct speed and duplex setting.

I would recommend manually setting it.

Remove any unnecessary protocols etc

Excuse my spelling !!!! : )
