I have Appleworks 6.0.4 on OS 9.0 with a 6400/180.
When typing in the wordprocessor the letters are very slow coming up on the screen and when I access the file menu the computer spins its wheels for a while. I understood this was a problem with 6.0, but that 6.03 and higher fixed this. Does anyone have some ideas on this?

Try to give it more memory in the "Get Info" (clcik on the applications icon and type command-i, increase the minimum memory. When you use Virtual Memory you should increase the programs memory anyway. Beware if you haven't much fysical RAM in your Mac to not give to many Virtual RAM (half of the actually RAM extra should do it) eg. 64MB RAM add 32MB Virtual RAM.

Thanks for the reply, I actually have plenty of memory 104 Mbytes and I am not using virtual memory. Would memory still be a problem

I have seen this problem with AppleWorks 6.0.4 on OS 9.0.4 when using Macintosh Manager. I tried turning off the Recent Document Preference which seemed to help. This is located under Edit: Preferences: General: Files.
