Hi
We're using BE multi server edition 7.3, backing up (among other things) Exchange 5.5. The information store backs up at 287 MB/min, whilst the mailboxes backup at 44 MB/min. Is this speed difference usual, or may it have something to do with a few corrupt emails floating around?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Rich

Slow Mailbox backups are normal behaviour for any backup product. I believe that it has more to do with the structure of the information store than the backup product itself.

Cheers

Just for added information if anyone searches this.
We're using a dedicated backup server with a Compaq Storage Works TL891 mini library, with two tape units.
Two backup jobs run every night simultaneously, one (8pm start) backs up an exchange server and its mailboxes. The other job (8:01pm start) backs up about 12 servers.
The other job tends to take 4 1/4 hours for 25Gig, the exchange backup was taking 12 hours for 35Gig (25Gig of mailboxes.)
I moved this job an hour earlier and now the mailboxes are backing up at 63MB/min rather than the normal 44MB/min, bringing the backup time down to 9 hours.
Who knows...
