We are attempting to do a progress dump on an AIX 4.3.3 660 machine working with SSA drawers. The machine also runs powerplay which funny enough only uses 100% of 1 of the 4 processors. The problem is that the dump is done by 30MB's per hour!!! while doing a dump of the same DB on an old solaris machine it does 150MB's per hour.
The network is not the problem, resources r ok, memory is okay. any ideas?

Hello,
Please explain "progress dump" i do not know what the term means. If you explain the term then someone may be able to help you.

Progress is a database. sorry if i confused u...;)

Hello,
Ok progress is a database then what is the meaning of dump.

In a smp system it is ok if process or thread is on the one processor.

let's say 1st processor is running the process. This processors's cache has all the data and it will run faster.
If the process has go over to another processor then all the data from processor cache has to go to main cache then go back to the 2nd processor's cache and it takes few seconds or millseconds but it takes cpu cycles.
