I am experiencing slow connection with my Accpac server from my off-site locations. What can I do to speed this up?

How are you connecting from the off-site locations? Don't tell me you are trying a VPN connection and running Accpac over a WAN because I will crack up laughing.
You need to use a Terminal Server and RDC if you want to give users remote access to Accpac.

Thanks for the response.

Yes we are connecting through a terminal server using RDC, but the connection is still slow.
I did a test by connecting directly to the Accpac server using RDC and there was a big improvement.

What else should I look for?

What are the hardware specs for the TS?
What database? Pervasive, MS SQL, ... and which version?
How many TS users?
Antivirus?

Speed issues always relate to hardware and environment.

The Hardware:
Intel Xeon CPU 2.0Ghz with 3GB Ram

Software:
Windows Server 2003 R2
Second Edition

The TS users are setup using the Windows Server Software.

Question:

Can Citrix be used for the connectivity?

You do not state how many TS users you have. How is the performance with 1 user logged in to the TS?
Sure Citrix can be used, it is the same as TS with some extra bells and whistles.

TS users are 12. Only about 8 would logon at the same time.

Thanks for coming ob board.

We connect through a vlan at 5mb.

That's plenty fast, so there's something strange in this mix. Are you mapping common printers over the Vlan? Are you sure you're not mapping a drive to the Accpac share over the Vlan?
