My I just installed Win2K on an older laptop and the boot process is taking way too long. Seems to me that other things besides the OS is loading in the background. I tried MSCONFIG but no-go. Is there a utility built in or other wise that someone can point to me to check what services are running in the boot process of my machine? thanks.

Hijackthis, ewido both will show you processes that are currently running. Also you can use the ctrl alt delete, then click task manager to get an idea of whats going on.

(hijack this, however unless you know what your doing do not modify things with this program as most items they show are usually legit).

Sysinternals has two utilities: AutoRuns and Process Explorer. AutoRuns lists everything that would start up when you start Windows (like MSConfig on steroids). Process Explorer is like a supercharged Task Manager.
