Trying to backup a 270GB file Server using a Windows 2003 media server Netbackup v4.5 FP_5
In-Line duplication is in use
Master Server is a SUN Server running Sunos 5.8
Master server is running v4.5 FP_5
Client is running v4.5 FP_5
Client Server is Windows NT4 SP6a
Compaq Proliant 6500 2 x Pentium Pro , 512MB RAM
Mcafee anti-virus is running
Server is 270GB with 8GB free
700,000 files
All Veritas performance tuning recommendations have been applied
SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS 65536
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS 128
NUMBER_BUFFER_SZ 132096
Communications buffers on the clients have been set to 129
VSP has been disabled
Servers Network card, Cisco Switch, Master and Media Server are all using 100MB/Full Duplex
Arcserve backs up the same server at a rate of 3500 kb/sec (210MB/Minute
Veritas Backups are very slow approx 1000KB/sec (60MB/Minute)
Arcserve backs up fine, Veritas does not any ideas why?
Suggestions so far
Fragmented hard disk
Anti virus running
Why does Arcserve backup at a resonable speed and Veritas netbackup does not?
