hello, i have a big problem :

I use Arcserce 2000 sp3 on a backup server which backup a network Windows 2000 client with 200Go of data...

The link between the two server is in ethernet fiber 1Gb/s
(with a cisco 3508XL switch)
I have also a Compaq TL891DLX Library with 2DLT 40/80 and 10 slots.
The performance is very bad : 150Mb/Min (when i backup locally, it's 450Mb/s)

The CA support is unable to help me (in france) and i start to be very sad!!! Thanks for your help!!!

450 MB/s!!!!! darn that is fast, so I assume you really mean MB/min hehehe, anyway, it's quite obvious here that the problem is either:

the network - Lan card, switch config, remote LAN card... etc...

or the agent. If you applies sp3 to arcserve server, then you will need to apply sp3 to the client agent as well. If you haven't done this then apply it now. If you have then there is obviously some other problem.

Also, try a big packet continuous ping to the remote server and see how that goes.

i think 150 MB/min throughput is acceptable, or barely acceptable. was the backup done during peak hours? try scheduling a job during off-peak hrs (e.g. night).

generally, the local throughput is faster that the network's. ;)
