I believe I can put a digital card in that slot if I don't have a mermail card in there. And I think slot 10 is always the last slot in the first cabinet. I wasn't sure if you were asking me or telling me it's the first slot in the second cabinet. It's a remote site so I can't look for myself. I am able to build a digital set using TN 10-0, by the way. Thanks.
Simple answer is I don't know, but I can confirm the same result. I checked 2 Opt11's I have with slot 10 free. Didn't show up using LUC but does show UNEQ if I stat the slot. Can only guess that it is the switches preference for MMail to use that slot.
The only way you can have slot 9 taken up with MMail is if your mail has more than 6 DVPs. The MMail inserts only into slot 10. If you have more than 6 DVPs, you need to use the larger MMail face plate which covers slot 9. The DVPs plug into the faceplate & not the backplane.
hello to all
the slot 10 is reserved to the mmail and i have 3 Op11c with the Dgtl and Anlg cards installed and i dont have any problem the only think that has to be done was erase all the sets in the slot 10 and all the ACDS (7000)
If I remember correct it depends on the database loaded during install of the switch if slot 10 shows unequipped or not.
When you load a default database during install card 10 is programmed as MMail and all other MMail stuff is loaded as well.
When you remove all the programming the switch still thinks you have MMail.
When you do not load a default database and build 1 from scratch you see slot 10 as free slot.
I have installed some switches with a database build from scratch and slot 10 shows up during a LUC. Switches which had MMail (or had a default database loaded) do not show card 10 with a LUC...
