I'm trying to add accents on to eastern European names that are not in my version of PopChar (v2.72). I am working in Quark Passport (v4.1) on a Mac. Does anyone have advice about how to find them? One of them looks similar to an upside-down circumflex.
Many thanks in advance.

If you need any of these (and I don't know if they are used in slavic), I've used these in several languages:

Option+ s is ß
Option + e and then the letter you need = é í ó
Option + a = å or cap add the shift = Å
Option + i and then the letter you need = î ê ô
Option + key under esc = è ì ò
Option + c = ç
Option + n then the letter you need = ñ

You hit the option + key together first, then the letter you want. Nothing shows up with the first keys, until you hit the final letter.

ß and å and ç show up when hitting the first time; you needn't entr another key.

Never used the one Marcus mentioned, so I guess you would need to kern it. A lot of work, but maybe if you used it a lot, you could put it in the library or on a sticky or document to copy and paste.

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for your reply but I must be doing something wrong. If I key what you have indicated I get a capital E with a circumflex, not a separate accent that I could then manipulate to move above a letter.
But I appreciate your response and will keep looking for a solution.

Hi Pobajo,

Many thanks for the accent suggestions. I do already use most of these but one of them I didn't know about. Unfortunately they are not the ones I need at the moment but thanks anyway.

For anyone who is interested, I have sort of found a way to do the accents, but as it's quite a serious cheat and I don't want to risk on a regular basis a character going funny in a magazine, I'm not going to use it. But as it may be helpful to someone else out there, here it is:

In Key Caps press the Shift+Alt keys, then on the keyboard hit a full stop (period). That gives you the accent (a rounded upside-down circumflex). Then you need to kern like crazy and add a baseline shift to the accent. Too risky for me!
