I know RH has the Update Network, how does Slackware handle updates to packages, kernel, etc?

If Slackware uses rpms, then you could use apt or yum. If not then you are doomed to a life of building new versions from the ol' tarball.

With Slackware, you'll have to download every package yourself. However, I think there is a script called
Code:
swaret
(not sure as I've never liked Slack) which will automate it for you.

Not sure about automatic updates under slackware (I don't feel the need to do it, I'd rather like to know what's being updated so I can bypass it should I choose to)

But once you have your 'new' package updateing is as simple as typing 'upgradepkg <package_name>'
