Hello.
I am not overly familiar with the NEC SL1100 which is unfortunate as I have a customer with one and they want a "central" answering machine for missed/out of hours calls. They have the basic voicemail card installed. In an ideal situation the V/M key for each extension would display the number of calls and these can be retrieved from any phone. All the telephones are 12 button display. I was thinking about setting up a department group with a group voicemail. Setting the group up seems reasonable however once I have done that how do I assign the mailbox to the group and once this is done will it automatically update the "soft" key. If there is an easier way to do it then I am open to suggestions. Thanking you in advance for your help.

Allan

The Group Voicemail feature on the SL1100 won't do that (even though you can find official documentation that says it will.)

Instead you probably want to send the calls to the personal mailbox of a virtual extension, and put an "In-Skin" voicemail button on each phone. This will light up when there are messages and pressing it will access the virtual extension's mailbox just like pressing the voicemail soft key on the phone accesses that extension's personal mailbox.

Thanks for the reply. It does appear in the documentation and if it can't be done what is the point. I have not contacted NEC direct. I will do so tomorrow and post their response.

Apologies for delay in replying as I have been somewhat incapacitated, NEC did indeed confirm that. Would it be easier on my part to program the "in skin" v/m button for an unused extension and then set divert on no reply to the inmail rather than tinkering with VE's. What is the timer for the "divert no reply". Thanks

A VE is a better option for a number of reasons. First, everybody keeps their personal VM. VE's have different forward timers so you do not have to set up different timer classes for the phones. With a In-skin VM button, you can place it on as many phones as needed, and anyone can retrieve the message.

Thanks Belvedere for your reply. I set up a virtual extension, dialled the v/m pilot number, was prompted to enter the mailbox number, did so and had a recorded message saying "that mailbox does not exist" The software "Inmail mailbox options" shows that it exists. Have I missed something else?? I just want a simple answer machine. Thanks

Check MB 47-02 and verify the VE extension has a mailbox. If you want it to go to a routing box, then assign the VE extension number to a group MBox instead. Then you can send it to a routing box with a main or sub greeting.

Hello checked MB 47.02 and the VE had a mailbox, however still the same error message. My brain is starting to hurt is there another option for the problem and if so what?? Thanks in advance.

Verify that the VE exists in 11-07. Call it and verify it can be called. Set it to CFA to the VM 24-09 CFA to 3999. Call it and see what it does.
Verify it is not in 47-03 as a group box and it exists in 47-02 as a personal mailbox.

Hello belvedere I did that and till had the message "that mailbox does not exist". I think that somewhere along I have probably entered an incorrect entry so I am considering a factory reset and starting from scratch and am going to be cheeky and ask for the programming steps required to do this relatively simple task. Thanks in advance.
