I am trying to setup a SIP trunk into a BCM 50 running release 6. There is a very good Avaya guide on how to do this with rel 5 and I am trying to follow that, though of course the SIP and IP trunking options really changed between Rel 5 & Rel 6.

I hve verified that the BCM 50 can resolve the name sip.skype.com and ping it. It get an alarm to say registration failed. and in the SIP user accounts section the BCM is reporting RVSIP_REG_CLIENT_REASON_TRANSACTION_TIMEOUT.

There is a NAT router netweeb the BCM and the internet if this makes a difference.

Any help appreciated.

I managed to get a little further - I found there was a problem with the firewall on the router blocking return SIP packets, which I have fixed and the BCm is now registering with sip.skype.com

After mapping incoming digits to a target line I can actually place an incomming call over this SIP trunk .

However my one remaining problem is makign an outbound call, I get a message on the BCM set saying resource available - any pointers?
