Skewing Font. How do you do it???? 1

I'm trying to figure out how to slant or skew fonts. I could not do it using the free form tool. Any info would be great.

You might be able to achieve the effects you are looking for using the shear tool, located on the tool bar next to the reflect tool [keyboard shortcut - O]. It will skew/slant text around its pivot point (left, right, center alignment).

What you also could do, is make a back up of the the text you want to Skew. You could convert the text to outlines and then group the txt and then play around with to get the effect you want.

I've never had to convert the text to outlines to use the shear tool (for example, to warp type to follow a 3-dimensional graph). Just select type, click on the shear tool, click on the origin then toward the end of the line and drag to bend the type.

I don't find the tool really intuitive, though, so I either do it by the numbers (option/alt click to get a numerical dialog box) where I have a known distortion or try out a couple of things before it seems right. (It would be cool if selecting the tool put a distortion box around the object so you could drag selected corners. Maybe some other version...)
