Is there a size limit for DNS entries? One of my programmer coworkers asked me that question and I have no idea, nor can I find it online anywhere. Not sure what he wants to do, but I'd like to find an answer for him. I'm referring to when you, for example, create a new "A" record, is there a limit to the number of characters you can enter for the name?

Are you refering to the domain name length or host name?
It you mean how long can a domain name be that varies depending on the TLD, .com's are 67 characters (If your refering to host names, I'm not sure but I think it's 26 chars.
