I just finished a major redesign of Troop 792 Web site. I'd appreciate any feedback on the public pages. I won't be able to incorporate any suggestions until after working hours (US central time).

I have some minor display problems in IE6 that I haven't worked out yet. (On the links page the background sometimes extends to the top of the page.)

It's essentially a variation on Dan Cederholm's bulletproof page design with some hover effects thrown in. The header is still being redesigned to just have a small graphic and css modified text.

Thanks in advance.

Nice and straightforward site. The colour mix is a bit strong for me personally, particularly the strong dark pink for 'Trivia Night' etc.

Does the right hand column need to be that wide? It seems to use more than it needs, and cramps the main text area.

I don't understand what the 'Pack-External' link is all about. It seems to take you to an entirely different site (cub scouts), with no clear back link. If it is a 'competing' site you might consider linking it through you Links page, where it would be clear that it isn't part of your site. If they are intended to complement each other (which I guess is the case) I would make the distinctions clearer and get a more obvious link from the other site.

I was in the middle of typing this earlier, then got bothered for lunch.

I have to agree.

I do like the simple, clean look though. The hover effects look nice as well.

I'm not sure if you know this about IE6, but your pink banners across the top of the page disappear when a link is clicked on. Then when the mouse is moved, the bottom banner appears, top one stays hidden. Just a friendly observation. Besides though, a nice, clean site.

Thanks all.

The 'pink' - I prefer to think of it as 'light red' will go when I get a chance. The site's been up and down with a change in hosts, and I've been snowed under with the the trivia night preparations (see site for details!)[smile]

The Pack is the feeder organization for the Troop (Cub Scouts become Boy Scouts), so I include a link to their site (which I have no control over). Maybe I'll move the link to the main page and away from the main navigation - that does seem to make more sense and match what they have linking to us.

Yeah, I get some weirdness in IE6 as well - haven't quite figured out a solution yet.

I find the right-hand side bar a little confusing as I instinctively head left and up (as I think most people do now).
I know what you mean, but I'm trying to save us all from repetitive motion injuries and move the navigation closer to the scroll bar (where present). [smile] A number of usability studies suggest that all navigation would be better on the right hand side. (Others take the opposite approach).

To change it sitewide, I would just have to change two 'floats' in the css. (How ever did we do this before stylesheets?)
