Looking for comments about unfinished site... Couple notes: the logo isn't completed yet and it's hosted on my home machine - REALLY slow upstream so pls bare with it.

When a search engine crawls an HTML page it applies weighting to the content based on what that bit of content is.

For example the words "Pub in B.C." will be weighted more highly in an <h1> tag than in a <p> tag.

This weighting contributes to the page's overall ranking in the search results.

If, as in Flash movies the text isn't normally surrounded by tags then the SE has no way to determine how important a bit of content is. Therefore it applies equal, less significant, weighting to all the text and spreads the page's "importance" over the entire content. It basically waters down the effectiveness of your content.

That's quite compelling in my book.

I'm not wholesale against Flash. But for sites such as the one here there is no need to build the whole thing in flash.
If the client asked for it, then I would ensure that they fully understood the ramifications and the alternatives.
After all, they are employing "me" for my knowledge. If I wanted to know how to run a bar, I'd ask them.

Incidentally, putting info in meta tags in the head of the document is of little use at all nowadays.

Google virtually ignores them and other SE's will only assign a very tiny weighting to content found there. It's too easy to spam in an effort to get high rankings.
