Howdy!

Using WIN2K & ColdFusion MX.

When I point URL to I get page cannot be displayed. If I include default.cfm at end of URL it works.

Within IIS, I have default.cfm as default document for mysite.com.

What's wrong with this picture? How can I fix this?

Thank you all in advance!

assuming you have control over IIS on the server, go to the Internet Services Manager, go to the properties of the website thats having the problem, then go to Documents tab and add in default.cfm

ok everything and you should be good to go

Dogers,

Thanks for replying. I have done as you suggest and
I am having same problem still.

I am about to remove site definition and add it again
but I fear this will not help.

I checked and made sure cfm and cfml are defined and
pointing to its dll file. ColdFusion server is up and
running and it can be confirmed by the fact that if I
add the page name on URL, page loads.

Any suggestions?

Thanks;

well, if you've done this:

check the case as well, it shouldnt matter, but you never know..

Then as far as i understand IIS, you should be good to go! Perhaps try asking on Macromedias forums? I've never used Coldfusion myself, so cant help a vast amnount, unfortunately! There may be something you need to do on the cf side of things..?

Dogers,

Thanks!

I will play around a bit more and if I just can't
get over the wall, I will remove and recreate.

If I find a remedy, I will advise.

A customer of mine had the same problem. My 10-second solution (hey, they weren't paying me for it!) was to simply define index.htm as the default document, which was just a blank page with an instant meta redirect to the default.cfm

Very interesting!

I will give this "rigg" a try. Don't you love the
good old *quick and dirty* tricks we learn in this
business?

This is one of those simple things that thinking of
it makes you wonder - Now, why did I not think of that?

Will advise on my end results!

Thanks;

*L* Well sometimes you have to use the quick and dirty tricks to keep things going for your customers until the problem is fixed.

Ever seen the movie Patch Adams? I know this sounds silly, but that old dude in the looney bin is what taught me to look beyond the problem, and the answer will pop up right in front of your nose. It's more than just a Robin Williams movie addage. :eek:)
