Well, since there are pretty of questions about that, I'll hop on too! Can you tell me what you think about this and how can I enhance the user experience?

I am still working on it.. and, well.. I wish I knew better. Let me know, please... (its on a temp dir).

Million, trillion thanks in advance.

Nice Look! Bit slow loading, may be due to the temporary server.

9% Goverment Tax should read 9% Government Tax
Need alt text for images.
Main nav bar (at top) doesn't get back to Main after going to another page.
Our Rooms page:
Title image moves around when page loads.
Second Suites should be lower case S - equipped is spelt with two ps
Our Rates page:
Title image should match position on all pages
Gallery ref should perhaps be on rooms page.
Pictures OF famous artist? should be by famous artist. If so who is he/she?

Obviously bottom nav doesn't work yet and other pages are missing!

Looks good but you need some tidying up, and run it through a validator, for instance:

Thanks for the input. I will work with it as soon as I get to my job. Now, I have a question: what is validation or validate a webpage? What it is used for?

Thanks!

A validator is like a syntax checker - it goes through your page (or whole site) and checks that the page conforms to the standards that you have specified in the <head> section. You have specified that your document will use HTML 4.01 Transitional - so that's what the validator will compare your page with.

I would chuck in a bit of green somwhere (but many people are worried about my colour taste so follow my advice warily)

Way away in Australia

Thanks again! The color has been changed to some sandy brown... not of my preference, but as the Hotel's Manager commanded. As for the site itself, it is now running on the main address Turns out that I only get to work with it 2 hours a day since last wednesday, and well.. it has taken me a while. But still... there are complaints already and so I just published it to the masses and will continue to update daily.

Chek it out!

The spacing for the nav could be better... a bit uneven and why not use the whole space

Colour now looks a bit more professional, but I guess you know there's a bit more to do on the details.

1. I note that you still haven't corrected the spelling of 'equiped' - should be 'equipped'.
2. What is Webdesing? Did you mean webdesign?
3. The 'MAIN' mouseover image on the top bar is different from the others.
4. Site still shows a large number of validation errors

Since no-one seems to have told you, you can find an online validator at

It'll help you catch any syntax errors that may mess up your page.

In terms of design, I found the old yellow version rather loud - so the brown is an improvement, although you need to work on getting the various gradient fills to slot together (on FireFox anyway). I don't think that grey works well with the brown though (nor the yellow, for that matter). Warby's already suggested green, I'd try a red or an orange - maybe trying to pick up the colour of the bedspreads in the central image.

If you're going to use images-as-text, as you do in your menu bar, you should put an [tt]alt[/tt] attribute in for the benefit of blind visitors. You should probably put a [tt]title=""[/tt] in too to stop IE displaying the alt text in a tooltip.

I'd lose the "Best if viewed at 800x600 resolution. Designed for Mozilla Firefox." - I'm not going to change my screen resolution or browser just to visit your site.

Chris,

There was a link to a validator in my first post - I tend to use the WDG one reffed above as it will do a whole site by following links rather than having to check each page individually

Apologies John, didn't spot that. I like the WDG validator too - as you say, it's handy to be able to check a whole site (up to 100 pages anyway). However, I think the W3C one gives more feedback when checking individual pages, which is what you tend to be doing when first developing a site.

Somewhere on my to-do list is the writing of an article or FAQ which goes through and evaluates all the validators available to the web developer. ONe of these days...

You may also want to change the colors of your custom 404 page to match the rest of the site (the background right now is a dark grey).

Also, your menu mouseovers seem to be different from page to page (or is it just me??) - some have a white border, some don't.

Hello Guys! Thank you all for your input!! It has been very helpful. As for the Validation thing, I really have no clue of how to fix those things... actually... I have no clue of what the validator tells me, dont know how to interpret them.... hehe.. not that of a big developer.

Besides, I am being very inconsistent with layouts and design because the owner changes his mind over and over again. So I had decided to make it the simplest way possible, like shown now Mabe that way I'll be able to have it the same in all pages, more easily... until I get to know as much as you do. Any recommended book???

Thanks in advance, (again)... I will keep modifying the whole site, and hope to make it better in the next week. I'll keep you updated.

I think "linking the logo to the homepage" is the norm.

Also, add delight if 'something moving'. I would add some animated lighted candles at corner positions. (Your brain is full of those 'gradients' anyway ;)

Gd luck you can get one those elegant candle stands (something called Art Noveau ...) Would suit a hotel & also your warm tone of color.

I agree with ChrisHunt about the orange also I think he makes other good points.
I would change the font for the line on the top of the page "Privacy .... etc." As you have it now, it sort of looks squeezed it. I think if you chose some contrasting font you could make it a meaningful element of your design, not just a line your client asked you to squeeze in.
I hope I dont't sound too critical :)

As an aside ..... address, telephone number, map, directions, contact info (other than web design flaws) ??????
Couldn't see any on any of the pages.

Hello again!

I really appreciate your help. Seems like I haven't been reading carefully your posts. I will correct them all today, excluding the validator thing, which I still have no clue of how to work around it. I am not that of a great designer... more a graphical designer than a webdesigner. So there are lots of things I really have no clue about. I think I should get a good CSS and HTML book, dont you think?

Anyways, as you may have seen... the site has been changed completely as per request of the "Design and Content Director" I still need to add phone and addresses, maps, etc. But hopefully, no more design changes to take away my time.

Thanks again for your very valuable input!
Will keep you posted!

Regu!
