Hi All,

I only came on board with IPO on 8.1 after years of MN3300 & BCM. I'm finding it pretty good so far! Anyway, quick question. I have a customer with a 7.0 (36) IPO500 V2 and they are looking to try out a couple of Sip trunks. I have no problems setting this up, I have done several on 8.1 and 9.0 systems. But my question is, are there any issues / differences with 7.0 sip trunking or does it work well? There's no way they'll pay for a 9.1 upgrade.

SIP Trunking has working since v5.0 in its most basic form. Some settings are different but there's not much to it. Suggest opening a blank config and adding a SIP Line and taking a look. If you have any questions then post them.

There's been a lot of fixes and new features for SIP trunking since 7.0.
It might work depending on the provider, but it will probably work better in a later release like 8.1 or 9.0.

Guess you could try (if you can't find confirmation that someone else has it running on that release) but if you get uncommon issues I would recommend upgrading before spending to much time on getting it to work on old firmware.

So it doesn't really matter ;-)

But to be honest... For SIP trunking R9.1 would be my choice. From 9.0 to 9.1 Avaya added an option to program SIP trunks without having to reboot the whole system. You are now able to restart only the SIP part << nice! Avaya also added a new tab in SIP trunk where you can add the information you had to add as NoUser source code in earlier releases per trunk.
