Avaya IPO Server Edition Rls 11 with SIP Trunks.
Customer wants inbound calls from certain DIDs to ring on a specific button on their J179 phones. Is this possible?
 
Set the DID to ring a group, give the user pick up buttons for said group. BAM.

You can also give them group buttons if you send DIDs to groups. The button will blink on incoming calls and they can hit the button to answer the call.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
 
Put them in the group, AND give them a group button, TAG the DID with the name that tells them why the phone is ringing.

Calls will RING, button will BLINK, text on display will say ANSWER ME
 
Or just tell them this is a PBX, not a key line system and how it is designed to work!

The customer is required to have this capability to identify the calls by the Fire Marshall. Calls are initiated in emergency situations from various emergency phones throughout the building and must be identified by the security personnel using J100 series phones.
 
The emergency phones are not part of the Avaya IPO. The emergency phones are located in elevators and stairwells. They call out over PSTN to Avaya J179 phone located in security office.
 
Additionally I would use the ringtone overide in the ICR to audibly differentiate the calls.

Create an incoming call route for each emergency phone

Incoming Number: *
Incoming CLI: {the telephone number that the emergency phone is calling from}
Tag: {Description of the Emergency phone's location}
Destination: A new hunt group called Emergency Phones

Add the users that will be answering the emergency phones to the group "Emergency Phones", make it Collective Call Waiting

Give each User a Group button for the group

When an emergency phone calls in, no matter what DID it is dialing, it will match the incoming call route with its CLI, go to the group called Emergency Phones. The Users will ring, the Group button will flash, the display will show the Tag with the location on the top line, and the incoming caller ID>Emergency Phones on the 2nd line
