I want to attempt to build an internal SIP trunk from my Session Manager to my CM server. The docs I keep coming across are for sip trunks between 3 systems. I just want to create from my CM to SM. Any good instructions out there? I'm running CM6.0.1 and SM 6.2

You can setup a direct SIP trunk (tls/tcp) between CM and SM.

check the below link -

What is the third server that you are referring to other than SM and CM?

If it is SMGR (System Manager), then its perfectly fine as SMGR is the GUI for SM. All administrative tasks for SM are done via SMGR.

On CM don't forget to -
- Check SIP trunk member capacity, codec, etc.
- First add node-name for SM ASSET ip-address.
- Create a SIP trunk using "add trunk-group xx".
- Create signaling group with far-end node name t0 SM Asset node-name.
- Add members on trunk-group form.

Cheers!

what you can do to check connectivity is follow the advice above , programming in cm node-namae , sig group with far end node name as SM , trunk group , then really when session manager is replicating go to routing entries in session manager , create a sip domain, create a location with your full subnet at the bottom so example 192.168.0.0 name everything so you can reference.

Create your entities , session manager , cm , create tcp fail over ports on the entities page , then go to entity links tab create a link between SM&CM this will then appear in the previous tab , then follow your nose with routing polocies and dial patterns its pretty self obvious, you need to tell sm what digits to expect and how to deal with them.

Even if you cant place a call , status sig and trunk from CM ,Then putty into session manager session ip (not management) log in as admin or cust ,type traceSM , and start the capture by pressins s , all the instructions are at the bottom of the screnn ,you should see the sm and your cm passing sip messages between each other , do not forget to turn of the capture or you will either need root privalages to stop it or reboot session manager ..good luck

In fact follow this doc and you willnot go wrong
