HI there!

Once again I ask for your help. This is my first time setting up a SIP trunk in my office. I already have all the information from the SIP trunk provider that in this case is COMWAVE. I started to research about how to set this up in the IP office and found this guide Of course this one doesn't fit with the system version (office IPO is 8.0 (44)) but I thought will give me and idea. I already make the ping for the comwave server and got the Ip address and now I already open the ports but when I am going to do the STUN test at the end of the test is showing me "Port restricted cone NAT" as you can see in the guide it says you need to get "open internet" or "Full cone NAT". What I did then was to run the monitor and trace the STUN what gives me the following answer:

So, Any idea of what is going on with this?? What I have seen is that this is the main thing after that I can keep going with all the information I found on internet. Just to make a test I give free way to the avaya system on the firewall but I keep having the same results.

Thanks a lot for your help in advance! :)

It means you have ports restricted on your firewall. You need all the appropriate ports forwarded to your IPO.

I had to forward 5060UDP and 49152-53246UDP (the rtp stream) to my internal IPO address, and it worked great.

Yes, I already did that. I opened the ports as you said but still getting the same results. As i said as a final test to make sure it wasn't something related with a "closed port" I open all the ports for the avaya, but the results still the same.

Are you using 208.64.8.6 for stun as well?
Try 132.177.123.6 for STUN, worked well for me.

Thanks AACon. I tested with the address you gave me and still the same results. Even tough, I keep going with the setting and it seems the SIP is working. When I go to the IP Office system status i check the trunks is telling me the registration status is OK. I did a shortcode with 8N to get access to the sip trunk (at least outgoing calls) but when I try to do it with the AVAYA 5420 in the office, it shows the message UNOBTAINABLE and then when I check errors in the system status is showing me two errors:

1. No free channels were available
outgoing group ID:17
2. The following system resources are all in use:
Voice Compression Module Channels (VCM)

It's weird because we have all the endpoints and the SIP channels free! and we have 5 SIP channels. Did I do something wrong?? or Am I misunderstanding something??

Thanks a lot for your help!

You do have VCM channels...yes? Either on a combo card or on a vcm32/64...

Yes AACon, We have a combo card that give us 10 VCM channels. I just reset the system and now it is working. Things that happened. Now I have set the SIP trunking without any problem. It seems like the STUN function didn't really matter in this case. I found a guide from a company Bell where they even said to set the STUN as "open internet" without even test it. anyways,

Thanks a LOT for your help! really appreciated!! [thumbsup2]

When in doubt, reboot! That's the first lesson of ip office!

NAT config is Port Restricted NAT:6
This can be used for SIP trunking but only if all SIP traffic comes in from one public IP Address.

Are you able to ping your ITSP Domain at System Monitor->Trunk?

I think he has only stumbled with the STUN and not created a SIP trunk yet. Nothing in the trace though...

HI cruzades, I just check what you said going to system status>>trunks and it's just weird. the calls are working incoming or outgoing but if you do the ping from there the result is "packets sent: 3/packets lost: 3" what means is not answering. I really don't understand how is working! I already test doing outgoing and incoming calls with no problem. Other thing I can think about right now is that my boss told me yesterday they gave us that line by now to test and then we will change all the numbers and all stuff. Maybe is just the company gave us a restricted line. That's my guess...thanks for your help!

Some providers do not allow Pinging them or the firewall doesn't allow it, why bother if calling is fine?
