SIP Trunk E164 notation when forwarding 2

Hi All,

I have the following situation:

Avaya IP Office R11.0 SP4 with a SIP trunk. All working fine but have an issue with forwarding/twinning of calls.

I want the From header to carry a number in E164 format.

Working situation:
A-number = National
B-Number = National
C-Number = National

A-Number is delivered in E164 (without a +) and Avaya is normalizing to a number starting with a zero. Example: 31101234567 is after normalizing: 0101234567, this are the numbers also showing up on my phone and within my call history. I can also call these numbers.

When forwarding my from header is filled with the number 0101234567 (A-Number but normalized) because I want that C-number is seeing A number. I have this in the SIP Line URI.

Situation not working:
A-number = International
B-Number = National
C-Number = National

A-Number is delivered in E164 (without a +) and Avaya is normalizing to a number starting with 2 zeros. Example: 49101234567 is after normalizing: 0049101234567, this are the numbers also showing up on my phone and within my call history. I can also call these numbers back when missed.

Until now everything is working fine but when I want to forward of Twin the call my SIP provider does expect a number in E164 format but Avaya puts 0049101234567 in from field. Is there a way to remove the 2 zeros when it is put to the from header when exeting the trunk?

You want to enable "Use + for International" in the Advanced tab on the SIP Line.

Hi janni78, when I do this, I see that my international number is changing from 00 to +, but when a A-number consists a national number (so with 1 zero) change is not happening, So situation is different in the from field depending on what is the A-number.

For me it's no problem that thare is a + in the from field, but than I would like a + always...

You need to fill out the correct National/International Prefix and Country Code on the first tab on the SIP Line.

For example we use 00 for International, 0 for National and 46 as Country Code.

I do have this set in the first tab of the SIP line.

But this is causing the Avaya to normalize a incoming number in E164 format to a 'readable' format. In your situation if incoming call A-number is 4612345678 then it is changed to 012345678. But when the original endpoint twinned or has unconditional forwarding active, the from header in outgoing SIP field is filled with number 012345678 and not with 4612345678.

And if the incoming number is a international number next thing happens:
A-Number = 3112345678 --> normalized to 003112345678 (so it is readable and you can call it back)

When B-side is forwarded or twinned, next numbers are showing in From field on outgoing SIP leg: 003112345678 (or +3112345678 when you use 'use + on international calls in SIP advanced tab)

No, when you have "Use + for International" enabled it should convert back all "readable" numbers to E.164 on the outgoing leg.

We use this all the time with twinned mobiles.

For example on a user with deskphone and twinned mobile the deskphone will show the number in national format but the outgoing leg to the mobile with have E.164 format.

Solved this issue, I created a second SIP line and removed the countrycode. All numbering is in E164 format (no +) also the numbering on the phonedisplay. This is a offer to make. customer is able to call these numbers back.
