Struggling to understand how SIP phones (both internal and remote) get their time and know about dst. Are they reliant on the settings file for all of that? Seems like DST settings are 'rem'd' out but have a default value. If these phones were in Europe, do those settings need to be adjusted? The SIP phones don't seem to follow the offsets from CM and they don't seem to be taking the time from SM.

DST and TZ are defined by settings file. Possibly SM group settings but I never checked.

Phone uses SM for its internal time in universal time unless NTP is setup, then it'll use that.

I have a couple of global customers. We set the timezones by setting the Group of the phone which you can do in CM and it will propagate over to SMGR/SM and to the SIP endpoint if on one of the current releases and correctly configured for sync.

In the 46xxsettings.txt file we then setup the groups and set the proper timezone. I like to align with the 24 hour clock starting at UTC as Groups 0-9, UTC+1 as Groups 10-19, UTC+2 as Groups 20-29, etc. Make it easier to keep track. I also put a NOTE at the TOP of the 46xxsettings.txt file indicating what Timezone matches what group number. Don't forget to set the DST settings in the group also.

Thanks for this. I'll share what we had to do for Hong Kong to get it working shortly.
