SIP or H323

I have a Avaya 9611G and 9641G. How do I determine if they are SIP or H323 or are they capable based on a firmware down load?

9611G/9641G are shipped from the factory with an H.323 softwqre load. They can be converted to SIP by downloading/installing the SIP software.

Yes, I have a PBX. I know the 9611 and 9641 are either H323 or SIP. So the SIP is just a download. Thanks!!

If it's a AVAYA pbx then use H323 far more options.

As I understand it, IP Office does not currently support any AVAYA SIP endpoints. All AVAYA IP phones must register as H323.

Since all supported SIP endpoints are non-AVAYA, they must use 3rd party IP licenses.

This is what I have. I'm more familiar with the CS1K, but bought this for some development.

Avaya Aura for Midsize Enterprise contains the following applications, installed on an Avaya provided hardware platform:
• Avaya Aura® Communication Manager 6.0.1
• Avaya Aura® Communication Manager Messaging 6.0.1
• Avaya Aura® Session Manager 6.1
• Avaya Aura® System Manager 6.1
• Avaya Aura® Application Enablement Services 6.1
• Presence Services 6.1
• Communication Manager Utility Services 6.1

w/ Avaya G430 gateway, T1/E1 Interface Module, and 1 Model 9611G/ 2 Model 9641G IP Telephones.

The original question was, of the three phones I received do they come standard with H323 and if SIP is required I must download the software? We'll be developing around both H323 and SIP.

They come on H323 firmware but can be set to SIP but then this firmware must be available on a HTTP server.
When you have an Aura CM then this will be the case.

As per my post before, the 9621G/9641G all ship pre-loaded with H.323 software. If you wnat to install SIP software on them, you need to download it from support.avaya.com.

I do appreciate the suggestion, but if I knew as much to put it in that forum, I wouldn't have been here asking for help. I'll keep that in mind next time though.
