Ive n Avaya 500 all working great with SIP lines and successfully blocking and anonymous calls, i.e if I dial the line and hide my number with 141 (uk) the calls are dropped instantly. The customer however is still getting abusive calls from withheld numbers that show uop only as "External" on the handset? What does that imply? Im going to block External in the same way Ive blocked Anonymous but just wondered how these calls are getting through?

Any clues :)

Aren't you the one that should give us the clues (like SIP trace) so we can give you the answer?
Didn't know this was a guessing game ;)

I was hoping someone would just tell me what calls labelled EXTERNAL with no number actually were, once I get access for the SIP traces I should be able to sort it.

There is a difference between withheld & unavailable
141 etc flag the all as deliberately withheld
unavailable (hows a Eternal) are calls from locations where the CLI is unavailable - probably from different networks that do not support CLI. blocking these calls would mean that legitimate caller from thee locations would have no way to get through

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Problem solved .. the old analogue lines from pre number port were generating the calls lol. Disabled them.
