Hello Guys,

I have a client that wants the functionality of a key system. I read somewhere that version R11 now has the ability to configure line appearance buttons for SIP Trunks. I have not been able to find any documentation on how to set that up nor is there an option under the appearance action. I did see MADN, but I don't think that is the option that I am looking for.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

SIP line appearances are programmable in Basic Mode, but not in Essential. Get them used to using Park 1, Park 2, etc instead of line appearances. The system will work better that way in the long run.

That is simply not true you can program SIP line appearances in Essential/Standard Mode... It is under SIP>Call Details on R11.

That being said I 100% agree that you are better off not using line appearances and will be better for you and your customer in the long run not using them. Good luck finding any help on here configuring them on here I doubt anyone uses them... I know I sure don't and don't even offer them to my customers. I tell them line appearances are not offered with SIP or PRI and they need to move into this century.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

How large is the client? If you can get creative with Call Intrude and User buttons for active-call visibility, play with that a bit. Gives you the ability to see who's on a call, they can mute their phone and say "Hey Suzy Q, get on my call!" and they hop on.

It also really depends on their use case.

Talked one of my clients into it and they are happy with it. The caveat being you only have so many buttons (they use a J179 w/ single JEM24 for all users), so it can get trickier with larger clients. They are a ~15 user office, also using park from the receptionist; I still hugely recommend pushing that. Their use case is strictly for instant joining without holding the caller or anyone else.

If it seems like too much of a headache to try and retrain them on the above mentioned, you'll have to keep them in the 21st century with everyone else and get them parking and transferring.

Thanks for the info guys. It is a small office that does not like change. It has been a struggle, but they want the system to match what they had. I really dont want to go down this path, but I'm being forced.

Has anyone ever got this working? I want to assign a private DID sip trunk to a phone with a button just to make it easy to see it is private DID
I do not want to assign main lines like a Key system. I have heard it is possible but all I have found is no one can get it to work and it is not recomended

See FAQ 940-7663

these is no sensible reasson for using line apperance keys.
if they want the system to "Match what they had" then DONT CHANGE SYSTEM!

"I want a man to walk inforont of my car with a red flag because that is the way it has always worked & I dont want to change it!"

once they have been indoctrinated into more sensible & efficent ways of operating they will thank you for it

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
