Hi All,

I am trying to register 2x SIP extensions on the IP Office. Both are SNOM phones. One is local, one is remote. I keep getting an "Error 606 Not Acceptable" message when I review the logs for both.I have another remote SIP Extension (Cisco phone) that registered fine as well as a SIP Extension on an Asterisk box that registered fine.

Any suggestions?

Derek

I have 15x 3rd Party Endpoint licenses installed with only 3x SIP Extensions configured.

Have you enabled SIP Registrar on the IP Office?

Yes. 2 SIP extensions have registered fine. The other 2 keep giving a "Not Acceptable" message.

606 Not Acceptable
The user's agent was contacted successfully but some aspects of the session description such as the requested media, bandwidth, or addressing style were not acceptable

So it is a config error on the Phone.
Most often it is a wrong CODEC set in the Phone.

Thanks Intrigant.

I've checked the codec settings in the SNOM 320 SIP phone and the IP Office Extension settings. Below are the settings in each.

SNOM320
Codec 1: G.711u
Codec 2: G.711a
Codec 3: G.729AB
Codec 4: G.723.1
Cidec 5: GSM FR

Avaya IP Office 500v2 System Default
G.711 ULAW 64K
G.711 ALAW 64K
G.729(a) 8K CS-ACELP
G.723.1 6K3 MP-MLQ

They appear to match but I'm still getting the Not Acceptable message.

Codecs shouldn't affect registration.

What does the IPO logs say?

So is the Name in IP Office the extension number?

Also if they fail to many times the IP/user can be blocked in IP Office, so you'll need to check in System Status that it's not blacklisted when you try.

You have a "401 not authorized" before the 606 "Not acceptable"

I assumed the Phone was registered but unable to make calls, my error.

There must be a password or registration name mismatch.

Try on the SNOM to use the Phone number as login name end the logon code as the password.

In Manage disable "force authorization" on the SIP extension
