Hello all;
I was onsite at a location, just moving some access points, when the customer asked me about having the SIP paging ext. in the same group as the IP H.323 phones.
Basically he don't like it when they need to page, they currently have two buttons. One pages over all the phones & the other button just does the overhead speakers in the warehouses. He would like just one button to do both.
I was not the installer of the IP Office & it's a corporation deal, that they had a different vender go around to install everything.
There is no control unit onsite, so everything is IP based. I see the SIP IP device for the overhead paging as ext 1997.
Anyways, I told the customer, that it should be easy to just put that SIP ext 1997 in the same hunt group as the phones.
He gave me his IT contact person & I told him just to do that. He later replied back & said "1997 is a SIP extension & phones are on an H.323 extension type so cannot add them to the page all group."
Could this be true with different revisions or like a server edition? I only install the Standard editions.
I installed (for a different customer) a system that has digital, IP H.323 phones & a SIP paging device all in the same "Page All" hunt group without any issues.
I have not asked the IT guy if he knows what revision/edition he has , but can if helpful. I just thought I'd ask here first, because I would think it shouldn't matter & works fine on the Standard system.
The customer onsite was told, that the Avaya could do it, but it would be over $1000 to get it done.[sad]

Any info will be appreciated, thanks.

When using a SIP audio interface for paging, that appears as a SIP telephone to the IP Office, I've been advised to change 3rd Party Auto Answer in the Extensions VOIP Tab to "Answer After" - once you do that, you should be able to put the SIP audio alerter in the hunt group with the regular phones, then do a Dial Page to the group for simultaneous

Thanks TouchTone,
I had him try that & now he says he can include it in the Page All hunt group & is working the way they want.
